Governor's Office announces Region 6 energy efficiency projects
CHARLESTON, W.Va. (10.4.2010) — Gov. Joe Manchin today announced grant awards totaling $953,640.11 for energy efficiency projects in the Region 6 Planning and Development Council, which covers Doddridge, Harrison, Marion, Monongalia, Preston and Taylor counties. The projects will be funded through the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant supported by the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. "Reducing energy use in city and county government facilities means energy cost savings," Gov. Manchin said. "When we conserve energy it is a win-win, for our environment and for our taxpayers because the cost of our government is reduced."

Project description: These funds will assist in the replacement of the HVAC and domestic hot water units in the Jail Building and installation of a new boiler in the Courthouse Annex. - Town of Barrackville
Amount: $35,887.83
Project description: This project will include a lighting upgrade, installation of additional insulation and replacement of the HVAC system at the Barrackville Municipal Building and Community Center. - Town of Farmington
Amount: $64,545
Project description: This funding will support a lighting and electrical upgrade, installation of replacement HVAC systems, insulation and the exterior doors at the Farmington Town Hall. - Town of Lumberport
Amount: $77,960
Project description: These EECBG funds will be used for installing additional insulation in the Community Center and new windows in the Municipal Building. - City of Shinnston
Amount: $78,237
Project description: This project will include installing ceiling insulation, replacement windows and doors and upgrading the HVAC system at the Shinnston Municipal Building. - City of Salem
Amount: $200,000
Project description: This project will include installing wall and ceiling insulation, doors, energy efficient lighting and upgrading the HVAC system at the Salem City Building. - City of Mannington
Amount: $45,500.28
Project description: This grant will support lighting upgrades and HVAC replacements at the City Hall, City Hall Annex Building and City Garage. It will also fund the installation of new insulation and doors in the Annex and City Garage buildings. - Taylor County Commission
Amount: $51,510
Project description: These EECBG funds will be used to upgrade the lighting and replace the HVAC equipment in the Taylor County Courthouse and Annex. - Town of Star City
Amount: $200,000
Project description: This project will include installation of insulation, new HVAC units and controls, new doors and lighting upgrades at the Star City Municipal Building.
